What a lovely spontaneous evening. Mark and John walk their dogs where we are moored in Voorburg. We often say hello. Tonight they both came aboard with their dogs and we had a lovely evening chatting and getting to know each other better over a wine or two.... It was wonderful to see their dogs so comfortable on the boat too.
We moored MV Sunshine Coast in Leiden marina, rode our bikes to the train station, took the train to Schipol, took a plane to Heathrow, walked to an airport hotel in Terminal 4 and did the whole thing in reverse the next day. Why you may ask? As Australians we qualify for a Bilateral agreement visa in the Netherlands which allows us to stay another (second) 90 days "after" our 90 days on the Schengen visa is exhausted, but you have to leave the Schengen zone for a non Schengen area to invoke the bilateral visa. So, this is what we do.
Now normal programming has resumed.
We had to do the same reset for Sue’s Mum in Japan in ‘92. So they “had” to go to Hong Kong for some shopping (& sightseeing)🤪.
Next time maybe you could fly to Norwich and stay with us and perhaps even stay a few days and see the Broads.
Yikes. That’s a lot of traveling for extending your Visa!
This is interesting because we just left NL after 90 days on our boat (as New Zealanders) because we were under the impression we could not do the second 90 days in NL but only in another Schengen country.
Well the UK dodged a bullet, mercifully short Geoffrey Effect for them !

We are having a very slow and relaxing time on MV Sunshine Coast this season. Simple cruising between favourite locations we've enjoyed over the past few years and spending time with friends we've made over those years. The slower pace has been a welcome change.
