Our Travels 2020

We started 2020 staying with our friends Lynn and Jim in Hawaii before flying to Sydney to catch up with more friends Ruth and Greg.

We then flew to Perth to pick up the ship Vasco da Gama for a cruise from Fremantle to Bali and return.

2020 - Sunshine Coast

We flew home to the Sunshine Coast to catch up with family and friends.

While we were home we put our house on the market.

2020 - Sydney to not quite sure! (Viking Sun)

Coronavirus was raising its ugly head as we flew to Sydney to Join Viking Sun on a voyage from Sydney to Hong Kong.

As we headed north, countries started closing down.  First China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Vietnam, Philippines and Malaysia.

We did make it out to Vanuatu and to Komodo Island before reaching Bali.

From Bali things were very uncertain but we had been booked for another cruise so we flew out to Perth.

2020 - Fremantle to London Cruise - Arcadia

We arrived in Perth and joined Arcadia on what was originally going to be a 15 day cruise from Fremantle to Malta via the Suez Canal.  Due to Covid however, all the ports closed and we were forced to do 35 days, around the Cape of Good Hope and back to Southampton, UK with no stops (save to refuel and provision).

Instead of six lectures I did 15, however the feedback was wonderful and once again we made a lot of wonderful new friends (not easy when you have to social distance).

2020 - Quarantine and home

After reaching the UK, we were flown back home to Brisbane where we underwent 16 days of quarantine.

When we were allowed to leave we returned to the Sunshine Coast.

We rented a unit at Rumba Resort, Caloundra from a friend and once again caught up with family and friends.

We decided to join The Australian Volunteer Coastguard at Caloundra Flotilla QF4 to do both boat crew and radio duties.

Unfortunately the unit at Rumba was sold, so we headed down to the Gold Coast to do some pet-sits.

We met some beautiful animals and had a wonderful time.
