Lea escorted the Jazz Sunset Cruise in the evening along the canals of Copenhagen. The weather was amazing and everyone was out and about at every vantage point enjoying the sunshine.

We arrived at the boat to the tune of jazz and a glass of cava. With the right weather this is a must do excursion.

We arrived in the beautiful city of Copenhagen and went for a walk to explore the Citadel where they were having a special ceremony to honour former soldiers in the Royal Guard. We walked past and took the obligatory photos of the Little Mermaid and the Bronze fountain completed in 1908, depicting Norse goddess Gefion plowing the sea with 4 oxen (as you do 😃). It was then back to the ship for Lea to get ready for an evening excursion and Geoff to complete his new presentation to be delivered that evening.

Back in 2000, we sailed Paddington III to Copenhagen, we left James and younger son Charles by the little mermaid, then elder son Jeremy and I put the spinnaker up, which featured a Paddington Bear on it, and sailed it towards the Little Mermaid, for James to take some wonderful photos of the occasion! That was definitely one for the album. We also celebrated Jeremy's 17th birthday at TIVOLI.

Beautiful!

You should have visited St Albans church next to the Gefion Fountain. It’s an English church and you would have thought you were in England on the inside. There is an Oak tree on the green opposite planted by the then Prince Charles. There is a small plaque infront of the tree

Geoff escorted a tour to experience "A day in the life of a Viking". Visiting a Viking Fortress constructed by King Harald Bluetooth, as well as a burial sight of Vikings. The ship shaped graves were for Viking warriors and the round ones for Shieldmaidens.

Oslo turned on her charm for our afternoon sail in with blue skies and sunshine. Geoff went off to escort a fjord boat excursion and Lea escorted a walking tour at Holmenkollen .

Holmenkollen is a popular recreation area renowned for it's beautiful vistas and international ski competitions. The walk takes you past idyllic waters and down the toboggan track that was the site of the 1955 World Luge Championships. The walk also passes the outdoor art museum, Roses Castle (notes in pics). We visit the sites of the two ski jumps which were both awe inspiring. There was also a tour of the Ski museum which was more interesting than anticipated. After a snack on the balcony of a local Hotel (notes with pics) providing more sensational views over the city of Oslo and out to the waterways, it was back to the ship to prepare for Geoff's evening presentation.

We were surprised to be advised that the owner of Viking Torstein Hagen, his daughter Karin and an enterage of managers were on board for the evening. Torstein popped his head in to view Geoff's presentation but was then off to dinner and more meetings.
